Prestige Bengal
THE CHOICE OF EXCELLENCE

The Bengal cat is a wild-looking domestic feline that was created by geneticist Jean Mill in the United States. She made the first crosses between the Asian leopard cat Prionailurus Bengalensis, native to South Asia, and a domestic cat in order to obtain a tamed domestic cat with the original and wild appearance of its wildcat ancestors. Animals derived directly from crosses between wild and domestic cats are called "F1" animals. Re-breeding an F1 animal with a domestic cat results in an "F2" animal, and so on.
F1 and F2 cats often exhibit wild cat behaviors. Jean Mill again crossed the F1 females with the father and obtained F2 cats. After several generations, cats began to act like house cats. Today, the Bengal is a fantastic-looking domestic cat with an exceptional character.
HISTORY OF BENGAL

THE BENGAL BREED
PATTERNS AND COLORS
There are two different coat patterns in the Bengal cat: rosette and marble. At Prestige Bengal, we have chosen to produce Bengals with rosettes set in and distributed evenly across their entire body. We also strive to achieve a striking contrast! We believe these aesthetic criteria best represent the Bengal cat!
Additionally, the Bengal cat comes in a variety of coat colors. Many are breathtaking! Prestige Bengal tends to offer you brown, silver, and snow Bengals, as well as Bengals carrying the Charcoal gene to accentuate the contrast.

BENGAL HEALTH
Bengal cats can be affected by genetic diseases like progressive retinal atrophy (PRA-b) which can cause blindness in cats in their first year of life. The other inherited disease is pyruvate kinase deficiency (PK-Def). This disease causes the destruction of red blood cells, which can cause anemia. These diseases can be detected by genetic testing. At Prestige Bengal, all our breeders are tested negative for PK-Def and PRA-b.
